There is just something about driving through Canada from Detroit to Niagra Falls in the New York, I would pull off the 401 and find a Tim Horton's just about everywhere. Again there is something about the fresh coffee and doughnuts and the friends staff, didn't really matter what city, there was always a great Tim Horton's experience. And now they have come to my hometown of Muskegon, Michigan. I am very happy indeed.

I remember being a kid and Tim Horton being my hero because my dad knew him and his brother personally. They had a gas station and then a hamburger joint here in North Bay and it was a real treat to visit both places.

Tim occasionally worked at the gas station in the off-season and each trip was an experience and adventure to see if he would come out and pump the gas. Yes that was back when it was not self-serve.

The burgers were tasty and always grilled after you placed your order and the selection of condiments was similar to the Harvey's chain now.

I remember placing our order at the counter and then waiting in line before heading back outside to eat because it was strictly a counter with no indoor seating. I can still remember the memorbilia on the walls and the feeling that you were somewhere special and you were always treated as a friend.

I was so shocked and in disbelief when I heard the news Tim had passed away from his car accident. He was a great man.

I was so happy to see that we were getting a new Tim Horton's in our little northern Michigan town. Actually our town is growing quite fast and soon it won't be so small anymore. Having a Tim's here is one of the best things to happen. I went to my first Tim's over in Canada and had the chicken stew in a bread bowl. I am hoping that they will serve that here. Their prices are affordable which will make me want to go there more! Going today to meet a friend...can't wait.
